OUTREACH

Committed to outreach, from the local to the global community.

We join with other United Methodist Churches to support many caring ministries throughout the world.

Kendall-Whittier Ministry In 1968, University Methodist Church joined with other congregations in our neighborhood to form the Kendall-Whittier Ministry. KW Ministry provides a variety of services to our area of Tulsa, including emergency food assistance, Meals-on Wheels, advocacy during the Urban Renewal process, support for our neighborhood schools, and other needs as they are identified. The K-W

Food Pantry is located at UUMC, distributing food to many families in the area.

Volunteers in Mission VIM is a program in which a group of volunteers give themselves in "hands on" sharing of time and talent in places of need. Adult and youth members have participated in a variety of VIM experiences, including construction work on homes and church buildings, working in rehabilitation centers, teaching congregations and Christians in other countries. These VIM experiences have taken University Methodist Church volunteers to Africa, Alaska, Appalachia, Arkansas, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Macedonia, Mexico, Poland, Russia, and Slovakia, as well as sites in Tulsa, and other parts of Oklahoma.

Missionary Covenant University Methodist Church has a covenant relationship with a missionary. Through our covenant, we share in her salary support, offer prayers, and respond to special needs as she make us aware of them. CROP Walk Many of our adults, youth, and children are involved in the CROP walk each year.

Local Missions University Methodist Church, through its missional giving and the active participation of its adult and youth members, is involved in the following missions: Founding member of Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry, an interfaith ministry in the Tulsa urban area which seeks to bring together different denominations and different faiths for ministry together. Common issues are interfaith relations, peace and justice and assistance for the poor and homeless. Emergency Infant Services, meeting the basic human needs of infants and children under five years of age in the Tulsa area, whose families are in crisis or emergency situations. Kendall-Whittier Meals on Wheels, delivering 270 hot meals each week to the elderly residents of the Kendall Whittier area. Restore Hope ministries, extending financial resources, counsel, and spiritual support to families in crises and the hungry and homeless. Day Center for the Homeless, collecting, sorting and handing out clothing and serving food to residents. TU Wesley foundation, providing periodic meals, devotional services, and assistance with activities for TU Methodist students.
